Reading Time: < 1 minute

The X-K FM SABC radio station based in Platfontein outside Kimberley in the Northern Cape is celebrating 21-years of existence. The station, which broadcasts in !Xun and Khwe, was established in 2000.

As part of celebrations, from today until the 26th of September the station will go live on various other SABC radio stations.

X-K FM is the only radio station in the country that supports the !Xun and Khwe languages of the indigenous San people.

“We are celebrating as a simulcast for the radios. We cross over to them and broadcasting live from X-K FM in Sotho radio, in Setsonga radio, in Setswana radio and they listen also to our language. We produce our language to broader communities in South Africa.” says Malton Edburg, X-K FM Programmes Manager.
