Wydad beat Sundowns 2-1 in the first leg last weekend, but they lost 2-1 to the Brazilians in a group stage match earlier this year at the same venue.

Wydad Casablanca Coach Faouzi Benzarti says his team is ready for their CAF Champions League first leg semi-final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday afternoon.

Wydad beat Sundowns 2-1 in the first leg last weekend, but they lost 2-1 to the Brazilians in a group stage match earlier this year at the same venue. Benzarti says they should have scored more goals at home.

The two teams have played six times in the last three years, with Wydad winning three times at home.

They also lost twice and drew the other match away. In 2017 Wydad knocked out Sundowns in the quarter-finals en route to winning their second title.

Benzarti says they are not under pressure to win the trophy after Raja Casablanca won the Confederations Cup last year.

Sundowns played a league match midweek where they beat Black Leopards 2-1 in Thohoyandou, while Wydad were not in action midweek. Benzarti says it will not give them an advantage. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
