The SRC at the Walter Sisulu University in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape has called on the management to fire the security company operating at the institution.

This after the killing of a student, who was allegedly caught stealing at campus residences. It’s alleged he was chased and assaulted by other students and had to be rushed to the nearest hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

He is the third student to die at the institution this year.

SRC President at Mthatha campus Mxolisi Zoko says, “As the SRC collective student body of Mthatha campus we’re demanding that the security system that is being used in the institution also with the personnel that is used must change because we are not satisfied how they operate in terms of safe guarding the properties as well as students in the campus. We are also demanding to have cameras inside the campus.”
