Zelt Marais has been elected as the new President of the Western Province Rugby Football Union.

Zelt Marais has been elected as the new President of the Western Province Rugby Football Union WPRFU. Marais, a stalwart of club rugby in the province, was voted in at the annual general meeting held last night.

The ANC in the Western Cape has welcomed his appointment, saying Marais has served club rugby in the province with distinction.

Provincial spokesperson Faiez Jacobs, says Marais commitment to transformation, accountability and his integrity bodes well for the sport.

“We are confident that Zelt will lead a collective that drives much needed transformation of rugby for the benefit of future generations in poor and working class communities whilst maintaining good governance.

The ANC also wishes to take this opportunity to thank out-going president Thelo Wakefield for his contribution to WPRFU under trying circumstances and wish him well in his future endeavours,” says Faiez.
