World champion and world record holder, Ntando Mahlangu, is now a Paralympic Games champion as well.
Mahlangu won South Africa’s fourth gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics in the men’s T61 200 metres final.
He clocked a time of 23-point-five-nine seconds – slightly slower than his world record of 22-point-nine-two seconds set in Gqeberha in April this year.
It was Mahlangu’s second gold medal at the Games. He also won gold in the long jump last Saturday.
