Some members of Cosatu-affiliated unions are using the Workers’ Day celebrations to raise their dissatisfaction with the International Association of Athletics Federations newly introduced regulation that women with high testosterone will have to take medication to lower it to be able to compete in certain races.

This could negatively affect Olympic Gold medalist Caster Semenya and other athletes.

Some of the workers who are celebrating the day in Mahwelereng outside Mokopane are displaying banners which read “hands off Caster Semenya.”

“This association they are after Caster personally and they started to change these rules and regulations after Caster punished their athletes. We are so disappointed on what is happening as Cosatu we will continue to support Caster Semenya left and right no one can do whatever they want to do,” says one of the protesters.
