Women in law enforcement march from Tshwane House to the Union Buildings in Pretoria, in honour of the women who marched against apartheid pass. The march forms part of National Women’s Day commemorations.
Highlighting the various issues that women in the police force face, Captain Van Der Berg – Gumede says a lot has changed since 1956 – despite being in a male dominated field adding that women don’t face the same challenges .
“A lot has changeed for example, four of the five districts in Gauteng are led by women,” says Van de berg- Gumede.
She further states that she believes more opportunities should be give to women. “ Our country will do better with more women in the front line.”
