A 28-year-old woman charged with the murder of another woman has been remanded in custody by the Ixopo Magistrate’s Court in southern KwaZulu-Natal.

Nompumelelo Khumalo is the second accused to appear in court in connection with kidnapping and murdering Nomthandazo Dlamini.

Dlamini had been reported missing in September and her mutilated body was eventually found at Donnybrook.

Khumalo was arrested in Pietermaritzburg after a police search of almost three months.

It was alleged that she fled her Donnybrook home after Dlamini’s body was found with some body parts missing.

Khumalo is now facing kidnapping and murder charges.

It’s alleged that she had been with Jwayelile Khuboni when they committed the crimes.

Khuboni is already serving a 30 year jail term after admitting to killing Dlamini with a bush knife.

In her plea statement Khuboni told the Pietermaritzburg High court that she had been with her friend Nompumelelo.

Khumalo says she intends to plead not guilty to the charges.

Her bail hearing will continue on 29 December.
