The Namibia capital Windhoek is still drilling more boreholes, to address the water crisis in the capital.

Windhoek’s high water consumption rate continues, despite repeated and urgent calls on the public to save as much water as possible.

The municipality recorded water savings of only about 24% in January, against a set target of 40%.

The City is currently busy drilling boreholes, as part of an initiative to expand the capital’s water supply.

Council spokesperson Zelda Scheepers says that the municipality has so far successfully drilled eight boreholes to replenish the city’s water supply from underground water.
