Wildlife sanctuary relocates from North West to Mossel Bay to protect animals

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A wildlife sanctuary from the North West has relocated to a farm near Mossel Bay in the Western Cape.

This is due to safety concerns related to poaching, poisoning of their big cats, and inadequate policing.

The Ubuntu Wildlife Sanctuary has thus far brought 10 lions and two tigers to their new home.

Founder and  Sanctuary Manager Jurg Olsen says, “All the cats here are rescued from very bad situations, they come from zoos closed down, they come from, the Ukraine lions come from private owners, the Argentina tiger, Tikka is 20-years-old, suffered a lot, so the animals come from distressed situation and they come to us.”
