Annually abandoned, orphaned and injured animals in the wild  are often left unattended, leading to their pre-mature death.

As the result a Wildlife Conservation Centre has been opened in the Eastern Cape to rehabilitate and care for wild animals.

The veterinary team will look at sick, injured, abandoned or orphaned animals, nursing them back to their natural habitat.

“We have a full time vet and nurse on standby 24 hours a day and seven days a week and an amazing team of staff that really do care and are extremely passionate about the animals that they are dealing with. I think it is a great asset to the rehab centre and raising these animals,” says Wildlife Conservation Center Manager Megan Sinclair.

The centre opened its doors three months ago, but its success rate is already evident.

The centre is also in the process of opening a bird haven, where abandoned birds will also be taken care of.
