‘When I voted I thought that something big was coming’

Former dual flyweight and bantamweight boxing champion, Christopher Dlamini, is one of several boxers worldwide that suffer from the after-effects of the combat sport.

The 71-year-old has poor eyesight and experiences occasional memory lapses. He now lives in an old-age home at Zwide in Port Elizabeth.

Like many of his contemporaries, he believes that if black fighters had had benevolent funds, their lives now would have been different.
