Early reports on the December 2017 peak tourism month show high growth figures in international arrivals, as well as an increase in visitors across the Western Cape.

The Western Cape Minister of Economic Opportunities Alan Winde says he’s received positive feedback from tourism body – WESGRO – regarding statistics for the province.

Cape Town International airport saw an increase in both international and regional trips.

Winde says the information comes from 30 of the 36 the province’s tourism offices.

“We had a 127,309 international arrivals during December 2017. That’s an 11.5% increase from the previous year and across the regions in the province we’re having growth from some target markers. I see in the garden route lots of visitors from India and a number of visitors from the middle east. I think this all goes to Prohect Kolisa where we are focusing on tourism as an engine for economic growth in our province.”

Tourism season is still in full swing and statistics will be released when the season ends.
