Western Cape Premier,  Alan Winde, says the province is on track to administer 120 000 vaccines in the next week.

So far, over 589 000 vaccinations have been administered in the province since the start of the process.

He says the province is also on track to open a mass vaccination site at the Athlone Stadium next month which will serve as both a drive and walk-through.

“This is all about how do we pick up speed, how do we make sure that we can create open access for as many people as possible and as quickly as possible. Really making sure that we have the supply of vaccines and that they are made use of as quickly as possible so that we really can start to avert a fourth wave and we can really start to get our economy up and running again.”
