The Western Cape is the province with the highest number of such councils so far at 14. It is followed by the Northern Cape which has 9.
KwaZulu-Natal has four hung councils, while the Eastern Cape and Gauteng have 2 each.
The Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and the North West each have one hung council.
