Last weekend 12 people were killed when a taxi overturned near Touwsriver in the Karoo.

The death toll on Western Cape roads in December has risen to 114. Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa, says a further seven people have died in road incidents this weekend.

He says the seven deceased include three drivers, two pedestrians and two passengers in separate incidents.

Last weekend 12 people were killed when a taxi overturned near Touwsriver in the Karoo.

Traffic officials say they’ll continue to maintain a presence on major routes throughout the holiday period.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Cape Transport department says the seven people including two children seriously injured in a car crash remain in a stable condition in hospital.

This after their taxi had a tyre burst and overturned, killing seven people on the R61 between Cradock and Tarkastad in the early hours of Saturday.

The taxi that was coming from Cape Town had 14 passengers.
