Messages of congratulations for Caster Semenya are continuing to come in after she finished second in the women’s 800ms final at the 2012 London Olympic Games on Saturday evening. Semenya bagged South Africa’s sixth medal at the London Olympic Games, when she finished second last night. Semenya, the 2009 world champion, crossed the line in 1min:57.23, a season’s best. Russia’s Mariyah Savinova won the race in 1min:56.19. Ekaterine Poistogova of Russia was third, in 1min:57.53. The ANC says the running sensation has made South Africa proud. COPE says Semenya has proved that the country is capable of succeeding at the Olympics. Meanwhile, Limpopo Acting Premier David Masondo says they are proud of Semenya’s achievement. She bagged South Africa’s sixth medal at the Games.
