The South African Weather Service has warned that an intense cold front, accompanied by snowfall, is expected to affect KwaZulu-Natal from Sunday, 9 August 2026.

The weather system will bring very cold, wet, and windy conditions across most parts of the province, with daytime temperatures expected to remain below 10 degrees Celsius.

Snow is forecast over the western parts of the province from Monday into Tuesday.

The weather service says disruptive snowfall could affect major mountain passes and key routes, including the N3 between Van Reenen and Howick, resulting in hazardous driving conditions and possible traffic disruptions.
