The South African Weather Service has issued a warning to motorists to be vigilant on the roads as heavy downpours continue in different parts of Gauteng.

Forecaster Celeste Fourie says the rain has been falling as a result of overnight thunderstorms which are now moving over the province.

“At the moment most of this rain is focused on the central and Southern parts of Gauteng. But we are expecting the northern parts to experience this rain later this morning. Be very careful on the toads as this rain can lead to slippery roads. As well as reduced visibility and debris washing onto the road,” says Fourie.
