The temperatures will decrease slightly on Sunday but there is a chance of rain in some parts of the country.

The South African Weather Service says the heatwave that is being experienced in the Mpumalanga lowveld and some parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Gauteng, is a result of the cold front approaching areas in the central part of the country.

Forecaster, Bongani Cibi, says the temperatures will decrease slightly on Sunday but there is a chance of rain in some parts of the country.

“What is happening today generally, is very hot conditions which are expected over the eastern and the north-eastern parts of the country which include KZN, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Gauteng. Remember, when we have a cold front approaching most of the parts in the eastern part of the country, that which is the lowveld, Mpumalanga, they tend to become very hot  and this might be contributing factor,” says Cibi.
