We will not lose our players to overseas countries says netball boss

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Netball South Africa President Cecilia Molokwane says the country is not in danger of losing their top players to overseas countries.

There are several SA players who are plying their trade in top leagues in England, Australia and New Zealand such as Lenize Potgieter, Shadine van der Merwe, Karla Pretorius, Sigi Burger, Zanele Vimbela and many more.

In the past SA has lost key national team players who went on to represent other countries. There were rumours that Potgieter will be poached by New Zealand but Molokwane quashed the reports.

Meanwhile, the Proteas will be in action for the first time since the Netball World Cup in England in July in the Africa Championships that will be held in Cape Town from the 18th of this month.

Teams such as Uganda, Zimbabwe and Malawi will be in action. Badenhorst is confident they will win the event.

England will visit SA later in the year to play against the Proteas in a Test Series. England beat SA twice in the World Cup recently. Badenhorst says they will prepare well this time. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
