Eskom says it is focusing on protecting the integrity of the national grid by preparing for eventualities.
The power utility says it is confident that there will be no load shedding during next week’s local government elections.
Eskom briefs the media on load shedding
Eskom suspended load shedding on Friday night – saying there had been some improvements in its generation capacity.
“We are protecting the integrity, even if it’s stage 6 or 8 that is what we will do – to make sure there is no blackout. What we are also doing, we are making sure that for whatever reason and all the blocks line up, and should God forbid, that we come to a situation where there is a blackout – is how do we start the system again?” says Jan Oberholzer, Eskom COO.
