Social Development spokesperson Lumka Oliphant says the department is not looking for a banking service; but it is looking for a social grants payment system.
Oliphant believes the payment system should be able to provide dignity, eliminate fraud in the system and it must also be able to verify people.
Oliphant says the Post Office is very small to handle the social grants payments since it has only 2224 pay points of which is a small number compared to more than 900 pay points from Sassa.
