‘We thought that in these 25 years that we could have seen changes’

Along the busy streets of Polokwane and in the heart of the city, we find a Sphatlo shop that feeds the hundreds of people.

Linah Maponya works here alongside six other ladies. Cooking is done via gas stoves on the street under a shelter.

Sphatlo, also known as Kota, is a popular food item. It is a hollowed-out quarter loaf of bread filled with chips, atchaar, polony and other ingredients
