We missed an opportunity to close the gap – Tembo

Reading Time: < 1 minute

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo says his team missed a golden opportunity to close the gap on top after they lost 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the league match on Sunday in Atteridgeville.

Matsatsantsa are lying in the third position on the log with 31 points, trailing log leaders Kaizer Chiefs by 13 points.

Matsatsantsa now have to look over their shoulder after losing with the resurgent Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits breathing heavily down their necks. Tembo says it is crucial to win games.

SuperSport Utd sorely missed young midfielder Teboho Mokoena against Sundowns. Andile Jali and Hlompho Kekana dominated the midfield for the visitors outmuscling Dean Furman and Sipho Mbule.

Mbule showed glimpses of brilliance at times but faded in the second half.  Mbule had an opportunity to create one or two goals, but his passes went astray and Tembo says it was their downfall.
