We are likely to have less medals in Tokyo Paralympics – Radebe

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Former South Africa Paralympic star Samkelo Radebe thinks that the Paralympic team going to the Tokyo Olympics in Japan next year will amass fewer medals compared to the Rio Olympics in Brazil.

The team that went to Rio managed to earn 17 medals. Radebe was a sprint runner and high jumper who competed in the T45 class. He won a gold medal in the 4×100 metre event in the T42-46 class at the 2012 London Olympics.

Radebe is confident however that the team will perform much better, and win more medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics in France.

Funding is a major problem for many federations in a tough economic climate.

The 30-year-old is now working for a corporate company and is hoping that companies can sponsor disabled sports. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
