We are definitely the underdogs in Nedbank Cup derby against Baroka: Larsen

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Polokwane City head coach Clinton Larsen says his side are underdogs in Tuesday’s Nedbank Cup last 32 round Limpopo derby against Baroka FC.

The Cup derby is scheduled to kick-off at 19:30 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Although Larsen says City’s league position makes them underdogs, he appreciates a break from the pressure of the league.

The coach also says some results have proven that there are no easy games in the cup adding that he hopes to use the competition to get some momentum as he did at former side Chippa United.

The fixture comes soon after the league derby which Baroka won 1-0 last month with Larsen saying he is not going to make too many changes to his matchday squad tonight.

The coach says he got criticised for using the same set of players in two competitions at Chippa last season emphasising the importance of selecting a competitive team for the derby.

For Baroka coach Dylan Kerr doing well in the cup is as good as finishing in a respectable position in the league.

Kerr also believes Rise and Shine will be looking for some revenge for the defeat in the league adding that he hopes luck is on Baroka’s side.

Kerr knows Bakgaga and their neighbours are fighting the same survival and progression battles.

The former Black Leopards mentor also says the fact that the draw for the last 16 round will be conducted before their first-round match (tonight) is an appetising incentive for both clubs.
