Water shortage in parts of Durban expected to be resolved by Sunday night

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Several areas across Durban are without water. Umngeni water Spokesperson, Shami Harrichander, says the interruption is due to an on-going challenge of telemetry problems at its reservoirs.

Major areas expected to be affected are in Ndwedwe, in north of Durban and surrounding areas.

Water tankers have been mobilised to respond to affected areas. Harrichander says the problem is expected to be resolved by Sunday night.

“This affected supply of water to reservoirs 3,4 and 5 last night so as a result of this many areas in Ndwedwe presently do not have water. The affected areas are ward 3, ward 10,11,12,13,14,15,17, 18 and ward 19. The problem has since been resolved but it will take a bit of time before the reservoirs build up again. We expect the problem will be resolved by tonight. Umngeni water wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
