Former US President, Barack Obama  is delivering  the much anticipated speech to mark the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

International dignitaries, including prominent leaders, Presidents, heads of states and African royalty have joined thousands of people that converged at the Wanderers Stadium this afternoon.

Former US President is known for his ability to command attention when he takes to the podium.

The first democratically elected President of South Africa, the late Madiba would have turned 100 years on Wednesday. Celebrations are scheduled to take place across the globe in honour of his legacy.

Earlier on Tuesday, former Irish President and member of the Elders group Mary Robinson says the best way to honour global icon Nelson Mandela is by championing the values that he stood for.

Robinson planted a tree alongside other prominent activists including Mandela’s widow Graca Machel, philanthropist Richard Branson and former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
