WATCH De Lille vs DA

Patricia de Lille
Reading Time: < 1 minute

The proceedings between Cape Town Mayor, Patricia de Lille with the Democratic Alliance (DA) have resumed in the city’s High Court.

A full bench will listen to all outstanding De Lille matters. She wants the DA’s Steenhuisen report which fingered her for corruption to be set aside.

She is also challenging the constitutionality of DA’s recall clause used for cesssation of her party membership.

The high court ruled last month that De Lille would remain in her position as mayor until a full bench sitting.

De Lille has since been stripped of all executive powers as a mayor.

Speaking to SABC NEWS before proceedings get underway De Lille says she has not been found guilty of anything.

She says: “I’m feeling very confident, I always put my faith in the independence of the judiciary. I respect the discretion and the independence of the judiciary and I do hope for the sake of the people of Cape Town that we are able to get to get to an end of this long drawn out legal Battle that has certainly impacted service delivery in Cape Town.”
