The legal team representing Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille is expected to conclude arguments in the Cape Town High Court on Tuesday morning.
The legal team, led by advocate Dali Mpufu, spent the whole day Monday arguing that the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) application of the cessation clause used to terminate De Lille’s party membership was inconsistent and unconstitutional.
Mpofu and Advocate Johan de Waal argued that the DA had used unlawful methods to remove her as the mayor. De Waal further argued that the DA Federal Executive council did not apply their mind to this case.
