The African Leadership Forum which brings together former African heads of state is taking place in Boksburg.
Ahead of the forum, former President Thabo Mbeki said every African country was ready to have a female president.
Mbeki’s remarks come as South Africa grapples with the question of a first female president.
This while the term of Africa’s first and only female President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’ of Liberia comes to an end.
Mbeki says women are just as capable as men in leading.
