Western Province rugby have suffered a massive blow with the news that fullback Warrick Gelant has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.
The 25-year old suffered the injury on Saturday in Western Province’s 22-20 defeat to the Bulls at Newlands.
The injury could possibly mean nine months on the side-lines which could mean Gelant will be in a race against time to be fit for the Springboks’ home series against the British Lions which starts on the 24th of July 2020.
Gelant was a member of the Springboks’ World Cup-winning squad in Japan last year and boasts nine Test caps.
