[WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT] Four arrested for Eastern Cape village mass killing

Eastern Cape police have arrested four people in connection with the brutal killing of seven people aged between 21 and 27 in Ezingqolweni Village in Lady Frere, in the Eastern Cape.

Four of the deceased were burnt alive, while the other two were found hanging in a nearby forest in Marashu Village.

The seventh victim succumbed to injuries in hospital on Thursday.

Provincial Police Spokesperson, Thembinkosi Kinana, says they are questioning the four suspects. The provincial commissioner had ordered a 72-hour activation plan to ensure that all necessary resources were mobilised to facilitate investigations.

The motive for the killing is not yet known.

Police have been deployed in the village as the situation remains tense.
