Warehouse fire rages on in Cape Town

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A fire that started at a warehouse in Parow, Cape Town Western Cape over the weekend, has flared up again.

The warehouse is used to store Chinese factory goods such as toys and clothes.

Cape Town Fire and Rescue spokesperson, Theo Layne, says: “An assessment by a structural engineer and fire safety officials is under way to discuss the demolition of the building after the fire caused it to collapse.

Layne says no one was in the building at the time of the collapse. He’s says firefighters are battling to get to the source of the fire.

A lot of the fire is inaccessible due to the structural damage that has occurred over the last two/three days, making it unsafe for firefighters to extinguish the fire.
