Lamoer sentenced to 8 years for corruption

Former Western Cape Police Commissioner, Arno Lamoer has been sentenced to eight years in prison, with two years suspended.

Lamoer and his three co-accused were sentenced by the High Court in Cape Town.

Lamoer, tow truck company owner Salim Dawjee, and police brigadiers Darius van der Ross and Colin Govender faced 109 charges of corruption, racketeering, and money laundering totalling R1,6 million.

Lamoer pleaded guilty to corruption charges in February this year. Dawjee has been found guilty of fraud and corruption; van der Ross and Govender were found guilty of corruption.
