W Cape businesses, residents praised for water saving efforts

Western Cape Local Government Minister (MEC), Anton Bredell says the water situation in 30 of the province’s municipalities is relatively stable due to water saving efforts by businesses and residents.

Bredell says government will continue to provide support to the agricultural sector which is bearing the brunt of the drought.

The average dam levels across the Western Cape stand at 20%.

The Theewaterskloof Dam in Villiersdorp currently stands at just under 11 %, the Voëlvlei Dam near Saron at 15%while the Berg River Dam in Franschhoek stands at under 50 % capacity and the Clanwilliam Dam on the West Coast is 8% full.
