South African poetry landscape is gaining momentum in recent years. Writer, performer and producer Vus’umuzi Phakathi has recently hosted a show that celebrated his decade worth of contribution to Mzansi’s poetry industry called 12 YEARS A POET.
Phakathi says he started writing poetry in 2002 and was performing professionally by 2005.
“In this country it’s a feat to leave as a poet. So having to have this as my bread and butter have been the most exciting and at times most challenging experience,” says Phakathi.
