Voting has been officially closed in Zimbabwe. More than 5.6 million people were registered to cast their votes for the Presidential, Parliamentary and local government elections.

There were no incidents of intimidation and violence reported by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission. Counting of the votes will resume this evening and the official results are scheduled to be released on August 4.

Millions of Zimbabweans cast their votes across the country on Monday with a lot of enthusiasm. It’s for the first time in many years that they are free to vote without any fear of intimidation.

Some say after voting they’re longing to know who their new President will be. But Movement for Democratic Change Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa says they won’t accept anything rather than victory.

And ZANU-PF says it’ll welcome the results.
