Voter turnout at an all-time low

The IEC says the voter turnout for the 2021 LGE stood at 26.3% at 18:00, which is significantly lower than during previous elections.

The IEC says the voter turnout for the 2021 LGE stood at 26.3% at 18:00, which is significantly lower than during previous elections. Only 6.8 million of the 26.2 million registered voters have cast their ballots with 3 hours to go before voting stations close. During the 2016 local government elections, the bulk of the voters voted between 07:00 – 15:00.
