Vote counting is continuing in earnest in Limpopo after elections continued well into the early hours of this morning across the province.

About 4.2% of the province’s over 3 000 voting districts had been declared.

So far the ANC is in the lead, followed by the DA and the EFF in the third position.

DA’s Lindy Wilson says winning the Bela-Bela voting district is an indication that they will do well across the province.

“Is a good way to start a day one has always has to start on the winning side. Our prayer is that we maintain the momentum, information that we are getting from the ground shows that the DA is doing well, but is still going to be a long day only 0.03 , but we hope that the citizens of Limpopo will give us a chance to rescue Limpopo,” adds Wilson.

Meanwhile, the Bizana Baptist Church voting station in the Eastern Cape is the first in the country with a completed and declared count of results.

The results for this area were captured before midnight.

The IEC in the province says its on track with the capturing process.

“Its Eastern Cape’s trophy, its not the first time, I think it’s a roll back strategy. We don’t rely on area managers for rollback of results and the entire material per voting station but each presiding officer submits the results and all the material to the capturing site. So, with that we don’t have any delays of area managers collecting 67 voting stations but instead presiding officers they actually go to a capturing site and submit and I think that is working for us a province,” says IEC’s Provincial Electoral Officer is Khayakazi Magudumana.
