Vladimir Putin has been sworn in as Russia’s president for a historic fourth term at a ceremony in the Kremlin on Monday, extending his almost two-decade rule by another six years.

“I consider it my duty and my life’s aim to do everything possible for Russia, for its present and for its future,” says Putin, with his hand on the Russian constitution.

His landslide re-election extends his 18-year period as the country’s leader.

His supporters say he has re-invigorated the country’s global status, while his opponents call him autocratic.
