StatsSA this week released the Quarterly Labour Force Survey for the second quarter of 2020.

Statistics South Africa (StatsSA) released the Quarterly Labour Force Survey for the second quarter of 2020. The data reflects a gloomy picture of the country’s unemployment  rate.

According to StatsSA, over 2.2 million jobs were lost between April and June 2020 as companies shed jobs amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

StatsSA revealed how unemployment in SA decreased by 6.8 percentage points to 23.3% in the second quarter compared to the first quarter of 2020.

Economic experts have criticized the latest quarterly report by Stats SA, noting how the data is “confusing”.
