Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says if the female learner who threw a book at her teacher is found guilty, she will be punished for her actions.

In the video which has since gone viral on Social Media, the learner can be seen walking to the front of the class where the teacher is standing and throwing the book at the teacher. The female teacher then immediately walks away.

The incident happened at Three Rivers Secondary School in the Vaal. The learner has since been suspended pending a disciplinary hearing.

Lesufi says the incident is very serious and that decisive action needs to be taken.

“I can assure you that if indeed the learner is found guilty an appropriate penalty will be meted out so that we discourage this kind of behaviour,” says Lesufi.
