Upington learner wins national oral history competition

A learner from Louisvalle Intermediate School at Upington in the Northern Cape has won the national Nkosi Albert Luthuli Oral History competition in Johannesburg.

Emile Hendricks focused on the life and legacy of the late former President Nelson Mandela. He won in his category.

About eighty learners competed nationally.

The 13-year-old, who is in Grade 8, says he feels very proud of this achievement.

His prize was a tablet and historical books.

Despite his penchant for literature, he aims to pursue a career as a graphic artist.
