University management has suspended all academic activities until Friday.

The main street leading to the University of Venda in Thohoyandou remains barricaded with stones and other objects as student protest enters its fourth day.

The students are demanding the payment of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) food and book allowance.

NSFAS started paying the allowances from February 22.

The students have vowed to continue protesting until all of deserving students are paid.

On Wednesday some students looted food at a restaurant on campus. Public order police continue monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, university management has suspended all academic activities until Friday.
