The Mayor of the Umzimvubu Municipality in the Eastern Cape Zukiswa Ndevu has given an update about the progress of the projects she has done in the 100 days as a mayor.

Villagers in her rural municipality want the government to complete some of the projects that have been abandoned. These include bridges and greenhouses.

The new municipal administration says it’s ready to bring change to their residents. Community member Mampinge Tshobanga says the provision of water should be a priority.

“This project was done but left unfinished. They came the second time and they said it is complete but we never had any drop of water from these small pipes. In fact these pipes cannot work because we could see that they were just fielding. The people that installed these pipes are incompetent.”

Ndevu says more projects are in the pipeline.

“The other one is the botanic garden in Mount Ayliff with the intention to prevent nature and environment. The last one is the one for electrification of the villages in which is at Mnqekazi, Ward 24 Sivumela.”
