Two suspects arrested following murder of elderly Gqeberha man

Two suspects have been arrested following the murder of a 87-year-old man in his home in Gqeberha. The male and female suspects were found in the home upon forced entry. The man’s body was found wrapped in a blanket with multiple stab wounds. Both suspects were immediately arrested on murder charges.

Police spokesperson Sandra Janse Van Rensburg says the circumstances around the murder are still under investigation.

“It is alleged that the daughters of the deceased Richard Adams (87) visited his home at approximately 18:30 in the evening. On arrival at the residence, they knocked on the door with no one answering. They became suspicious when they saw movement in the house. They immediately contacted the 10111 centre and the Gqeberha K9 unit were the first responders.”

Limpopo arrests

Limpopo police say over two thousand people have been arrested for various crimes including murder, rape and possession of illegal firearms and ammunition in a period of two weeks.

Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says 15 stolen motor vehicles and 30 firearms were recovered during the joint operations conducted between the 29th of last month and today. Mojapelo says among the arrested people is a 54-year-old suspect who allegedly shot and killed a 30-year-old man in a suspected domestic violence-related incident in Nkowankowa outside Tzaneen.

“Police operations in Limpopo continue to wipe off criminal activities across the province as more than 2 000 suspects were arrested and 30 illegal firearms were recovered during joint weekly operations the suspects will charges ranging from murder, attempted murder, rape possession of illegal firearms and ammunition>
