Two suspected robbers have been shot and killed during a church service in Wierda Park in Centurion, south of Pretoria.
A third suspect escaped and allegedly got into a getaway car that was parked outside the church.
The three armed men allegedly tried to rob the congregants at gunpoint when one of the churchgoers shot at them.
Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Mothapelo Peters says police are still on the scene.
“Reports from the scene suggest that the three suspects stormed into the church during a service and were robbing congregants of their personal belongings at gunpoint. One of the congregants allegedly fired shots, fatally wounding two suspects while the third one ran outside. The pastor sustained minor injuries and was treated on site. No other injuries were reported. Members attending to the scene recovered one firearm.”
