Traffic is now flowing very slowly after a lane of the N1 north heading to Limpopo was re-opened at the Wallmansthal offramp, north of Pretoria, after a cash-in-transit heist. The vehicle was on its way to Marble Hall in Limpopo.

Police say the suspects shot at the vehicle as well as its escort, before bringing it to a halt and bombing the van. Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

“Information at hand is that the cash van had been bombed and an undisclosed amount of money has been taken. The escort vehicle has also been shot at. At this stage, we can confirm that two security officials have been shot and wounded and rushed to a medical facility and all role players are on scene and manhunt has ensued for those responsible for this brazen attack,” Mathe explains.
